Robert Marley specializes in behavioral and experimental research with an emphasis in accounting information systems.

Professional and Community Activities

Marley is a professor in the Sykes College of Business. He has published over 25 research studies in a myriad of high-quality academic and industry journals. Most recently, his work has been published in Accounting and the Public Interest (2026), Journal of Accounting, Ethics, and Public Policy (2025), Accounting Education (2024), Journal of Accounting Education (2023), the Journal of Theoretical Accounting (2022) and Management Accounting Quarterly (2021).  

Marley has published in top accounting journals such as Behavioral Research in Accounting, Journal of Information Systems and the Journal of Management Accounting Research. His research has been profiled by Yale University’s Center for International Finance, Investor Relations magazine and by the Institute of Management Accountants. SSRN's Behavioral and Experimental Accounting eJournal has named Marley’s work among its Top 10.

Marley is currently an editorial board member of CalState's journal, Business Forum. He is the former director of the University of Tampa's Center for Ethics (2016-2026). He served as the treasurer of the American Accounting Association’s Diversity Section (2014 - 2019), as the department chair of accounting (2017) and is as a past chairman of the Sykes College of Business Teaching Effectiveness Committee (2015).

Honors and Awards

Marley is the 2026 Sykes College of Business Graduate Faculty Member of the Year. He has been awarded the College of Business Outstanding Faculty Advisor (2025 and 2023), the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award (2022 and 2016), Researcher of the Year for the Sykes College of Business (2017) and recognized as an Outstanding Student Advisor by the Academic Advising Office (2016). Beta Alpha Psi recognized him for outstanding faculty involvement in 2015.
