Sept. 28, 2026 - Information About This Morning’s Residential Emergency Alert

At approximately 12:50 a.m. this morning, the University issued an emergency notification directing the residential community to shelter in place in response to a reported incident.

The emergency notification was directed to the residential community because the incident occurred during the overnight hours, when residential students were the primary campus population affected.

The Tampa Police Department responded to campus and investigated the report. TPD determined that the reported emergency was unfounded. At approximately 1:10 a.m., the University issued an all clear. There is no known threat to campus, and normal University operations have resumed.

The University is providing this information for members of the community who may have questions about this morning’s alerts or the law enforcement presence observed on campus.

Campus Safety alerts will be posted to this section of the University's website. The alerts will provide updates as necessary by the University's Emergency Operations Team and department of Campus Safety to inform the community of safety concerns and, if necessary, closures, evacuations, rescheduling and other security matters.
