Hourly Student Staff Positions

Community Engagement Assistants (CEA) serve as a leadership team member within a hall or residential community. CEAs schedule the front desk area of each residence hall and act as liaisons to the Area Coordinator and all student staff within a residential community. CEAs are highly visible members of a building, providing programming support, administrative processing, and staff training, but are not required to live on campus. These students are the most trained and help manage the day-to-day functions of the residence hall under an Area Coordinator's oversight.

Desk Assistants (DA) staff the front desk area of each residence hall and act as liaisons to the Area Coordinator and resident assistants during operating hours. DAs check out materials to residents, such as vacuum cleaners and recreational equipment. These students also provide customer service, resources, assist with facilities requests, and perform other related duties as directed by the student assistant coordinator and/or Area Coordinator.

Information Desk Attendants (IDA) provide knowledge about university services and events to the campus community and guests of The University of Tampa. IDAs provide excellent customer service 24 hours a day while managing daily operations of the Vaughn Center information desk, including distributing loan keys and logging packages.

Office Assistants (OA) serve as the first point of contact and representative for Housing and Residence Life and are responsible for assisting with day-to-day administrative and customer service responsibilities. These student employees serve as a resource for prospective and current residential students, families, visitors, and people outside the University community. OAs report directly to the staff assistant.

Housing and Residence Life hires student staff throughout the academic year. For more information, contact reslifeselection@ut.edu .
