Facilities Management Wins Safety Award

The University of Tampa facilities management team, which keeps campus clean and running smoothly, was recognized in October with the 2026 Unit Safety Excellence Award from Sodexo. UTampa partners with Sodexo to manage grounds work, custodial services, air conditioning and event support, among other services.

The team’s “dedication, leadership and consistent focus on creating a strong safety culture helped them rise to the top … across the entire campus segment,” wrote Katie Gauvin, vice president and head of safety at Sodexo.

Sodexo noted the team’s “zero harm” approach that incorporates proactive hazard identification and consistent adherence to safety protocols as it manages more than 6,000 assets across 4 million square feet of campus and approximately 240 work orders a day.
